Who do you fish with the most? Or do you fish alone?
My wife has all the gear so normally I fish with her, but as our children are young I’ve been going fishing with good mates like the ‘Danish Carp fanatic’ Stefan (who has his own carp lake on his front lawn!) or with ‘Chris’ who’s from Yorkshire England. (If Chris Thornhill would move his behind we may get to share a session or two this year! *wink-wink*)
What rods do you use at the moment?
Free Spirit ‘HI-S 200’ 13ft, 3-5oz T.C, 50mm butt ring, hand built to my specifications and weight (with my reel & rod combination I can cast in excess of 200 meters.....!)
What brand of bait do you use?
My own....’private’, end of story.
Do you use Homemades or Shelf life baits?
Homemade (shelf life pop-ups on occasions)
If you could only use one flavour, which flavour would it be?
SCOPEX... Of course! ( old flavouring that’s always been luring carp into the net!)
What are your favourite particles?
Pellets (but rarely use them)
Are you a member of ‘Svenska Karp Klubben’?
No.
What is the best piece of carp fishing equipment you have ever bought?
Could never answer that really, when I started Carp fishing my choice of equipment was whatever I was given by my father, but as soon as I had a job in England I began to buy my ‘set-up’ bit by bit, always replacing items until I found the perfect one for me, this lasted up until recently when I ‘finally’ achieved ‘The Perfect Set-up!’. For those of you who don’t know me personally I’m a very ‘fussy’ Carp angler when it comes to ‘seeing the pod & tackle on the bank’ matching rods and reels, pod completely ‘level’ (ex: spirit level on buzz bars). My rods and reels are always cleaned ‘thoroughly’ when returning home from EVERY fishing session, you’ll never see me with mud smeared on my alarms etc!
Do you fish for other species apart from carp?
No, ......boring!
If you could change something in Swedish carp fishing, what would it be? Hmm... MENTALITY... naturally.
What is your most memorable moment in carp fishing?
Landing my father’s P.B. in France, I’d surprised him with the holiday as he’d never been abroad!, when I was younger I remember us always talking about ‘France’ and that we go, well finally after 20 years we were on the bank banging them out one after the other.
What is your worst moment in carp fishing?
My worst moment I suppose without a doubt would have to be when I was carp fishing for a week at ‘Chigborough Fisheries’ Essex (chiggy), I was about 13 years old at the time and my father had drove into town to pick up some food supplies, whilst he was gone it started raining really hard and I began hearing the faint sound of thunder In the distance, within an instant the storm was directly above the lake, ....then I get a screamer! I struck the rod and felt the carp pulling hard to my right, I was watching the water when I saw the reflection of a lightning bolt touch the opposite bank of the lake! Then my 2 nd rod screamed off!! ..what was my worst moment you ask?
Standing on the bank with a ‘CARBON’ rod in each hand watching the lightning touch down all around me! I knew It was dumb, but I just couldn’t NOT strike the rods!
What is your funniest moment in carp fishing?
Personally I can’t think of anytime In particular, my wife said the time I was walking out into the lake to help Chris Thornhill as he’d got snagged, I ‘over stepped’ at one point and was up to my neck in it!! (The photo of me In the water, Rod In hand is actually mounted on my living room wall!)

And here it is Colin mate :)
