This winter I decided to catch a big pike. In the end of the pike season the result of the hard work felt marvellous.
I first started the pike fishing with dead bait on the bottom in a small lake; I mainly used herring as bait. I caught two pikes a little bit over 5000g and lost two monsters, one was definitely over ten kilos!

A nice deadbaitpike around five kilos! Caught during the Christmas break.
Later on in February I started the Jerkbait season for pike, first I caught a couple of pikes around four kilos, then I caught a new personal best, the fish weighed 7800g.

A nice and fat pike, 7800g!
I kept on fishing and during one warm day in the end of February Tobias Fränstam and I managed to catch three pikes over eleven kilos in one hour, A great day to remember!

A lovely fat pike! 11250g and 111cm of great luck!
Almost a month later in the middle of March I was fishing alone. I had fished for eight hours without a bite when an enormous pike swam after my home made “Tail lure”.
The pike swam after my lure three times without taking it and then I tried the Musky technique called figure eight. (You put down your rod tip under the surface and write a figure eight with your lure). After 7-8 seconds the pike took my lure and after a tremendous fight I landed a fat bastard and a new personal best, my fourth new pike PB this year! This time it weighed 11600g.

11600g fat bastard! The first fish on my home made lure.
