Screaming Delkims - Tips Tricks & Handy Hints

Here are some of my personal favorites that will save you a few Pennies, kronor's, Deutschmarks, Euro's or whatever.......

Boilies

Do you have a problem with boilies not turning out round when you roll them? Are they coming out as a small sausage? If so try this little tip. If you are making 18mm boilies and using an 18mm rolling table, make the sausage 16mm in diameter instead of 18mm and they will come out perfectly round. So basically, whatever size rolling table you are using, make the sausage 2mm smaller. 20mm rolling table = 18mm sausage. 12mm rolling table = 10mm sausage, and so on. Try it and see………. It works.

Shrink Tube

Why pay a lot of money for shrink tube in the tackle shops when you can buy it from other places for half the price and get 3 times the amount. I get mine from Clas Ohlson, you get 2 different sizes and about 10 lengths of each size. Plus its black and is excellent for rigs.

Bait Dips & soaks –

Make your own dips & soaks to accompany your homemade baits. Just pour some of the boilie flavour (that you have used to make the baits with) into a leak proof pot and then half fill the pot with “Ljus Sirap”. Then give it a good shake and “Voila” a homemade bait dip that wont go off. Plus the sticky sirap stays on the bait in the water and doesn't just wash straight off.

Boilie Stops

Instead of using boilie stops a cheap alternative are the plastic seals that they use on fire extinguishers. They are just the same as boilie stops and come in lots of different colours, red, orange, yellow, green etc.

Go Electric

If you are a long stay fisherman this little tip will make life easier and more comfortable for you. Buy yourself a rechargeable 12 Volt battery and here are some things that you can use it for whilst out fishing.

Charging your mobile phone. I consider this very important when out for a long time. In the event of an emergency, a charged battery on your phone could be the difference between life & death.

How to do it : Buy a normal car charger for your model of phone, a cigarette lighter connection (you can get these from Jula, Biltema, Överskottsbolaget) as you have in the car and some crocodile clips. You don’t need the cigarette lighter connection, but it does make it easier. Attach the crocodile clips to the 2 wires that connect to the cigarette lighter connection, and just plug your car charger in as normal and……….”beep” your phone is on charge!

Watch TV while waiting for a screamer.
